Gingham

Hi All, thought I’d take a look at Gingham this week...... this print originated in India and Indonesia and was first exported to Europe in the 17th Century. The pattern of the fabric was striped originally, however from the mid 18th Century when the mills of Manchester were producing the fabric, it started to be woven in check or plaid patterns. Since the 20th Century the iconic print has been a favourite of famous women including Jackie Kennedy, Gloria Vanderbilt, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot and Jane Fonda. Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day or more traditionally known as Mothering Sunday was once a date on which Christians would visit their ”Mother” church. Domestic servants were given the day off to return to their hometowns and worship with their families.
